Sunday, 26 September 2021 5pm PDT (12am GMT) Join us: Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84087760364 LnL YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/LOOPandLEARN Dr. Nally will review a bit of Loop history as well as talk about a few of her cases. She will then discuss basics of deciding how to go about adjusting insulin doses. Of course, she is very excited to be presenting to Loop and Learn … and looks forward to a lively Q&A session. As always, the event will be recorded and available for viewing and sharing the following day on our YouTube Loop and Learn channel. Laura Nally, MD, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 6 years in 1990. She trained to become a pediatric endocrinologist at Stanford University, where she began Looping in 2018. While at Stanford, she spent 8 days hiking Mt. Whitney (14,505 ft), the tallest peak in the contiguous US, with 9 teens and 2 adults with T1D, and went on to write the first Wildnerness Medical Society Clinical Practice Guidelines for Diabetes Management. She currently works at Yale University as an Assistant Professor and receives funding from the National Institutes of Health to study metabolic changes that occur on very low carbohydrate diets in youth with T1D. She also published the first case report of Looping in Pregnancy. You can download the PDFusing the link below. She spends her free time advocating to improve access and affordability of diabetes medications and supplies, serving as the legislative lead for the Connecticut #insulin4all Chapter of T1International.

iOS 15
iOS 15 was released on September 20. Some members of the Looping community have already updated to iOS 15 and their Loop app continued to work. Sadly, other members had their app immediately crash. The members whose Loop apps crashed had last built their app using a version of Xcode older than 12.5. The crashes were due to some changes that Apple made with regard to code signing.
The good news is that Loop's all-volunteer army identified the issue, notified others, and implemented a solution in just over 24 hours! Our special thanks to the volunteers who made this happen so quickly. However, this is a good reminder that there is an advantage to being cautious and letting our most tech savvy community members have a few days (or even weeks if needed) to sort through technical issues related to new releases of iOS.
What should you do? First off, disable the auto-update feature on your looping phone by clicking iPhone Settings/General/Software Update. Next, if you'd like to update to iOS 15, update your computer first and then your phone. iOS 15 requires Xcode 13 to build Loop. Xcode 13 requires macOS Big Sur. To build Loop using Xcode 13, you must use a Loop (Workspace) build. Luckily, this is the method used by Loop and Learn's Build Select Script. If your Mac can't update to Big Sur, do not update your iPhone to iOS 15!

Dexcom's Recommended iPhone Settings
Dexcom has posted a notice regarding iOS 15's new Scheduled Summary feature. If enabled, this feature will delay notifications from apps, including Dexcom.
After iOS 15 is verified as being Loop-friendly, all Dexcom Loopers should review their iPhone settings to ensure that the Scheduled Summary feature is not enabled for the Dexcom app.
For more information about how to configure your phone to optimize Dexcom usage, click the link below.
